In 1991 Michalis Patsakis was the first to legally bottle Cretan raki, one of the most famous Greek alcoholic beverages. Raki is also called Tsikoudia in the Cretan dialect. Since then, the Patsakis family has been the driving force behind the traditional Cretan tsikoudia known as a refined and enjoyable distillate.
The company absorbs raw materials from the wider area and offers work to the local community. After more than 20 years of operation, the Patsakis distillery has become an integral part of the daily life of the village.
The distillation process takes place under completely controlled conditions of pressure and temperature, thanks to the modern fractional distillation ambush and the experience of twenty-six years of operation.
The Distillery is located on the beautiful outskirts of Prinias in the Municipality of Malevizi, in the center of Crete. The sunny slopes of the valley of Malevizi have always been famous for their excellent vineyards, due to the soil, the altitude (700 m.) And the microclimate. From here the best grapes are selected with a special taste and aroma for the spirits.
The raw material is kneaded in stainless steel tanks with controlled environmental and temperature conditions and distilled in copper urns. The distillation is meticulously controlled in order to achieve the desired result.
In 2018 HARAKI won the Silver Award in one of the most prestigious international wine and spirits competitions, the IWSC in London.
