The bay laurel is another plant inextricably linked to ancient Greece. It was the sacred tree of the god Apollo. Pythia, the priestess of the Oracle of Delphi, according to mythology, chewed bay leaves before giving her oracles. The ancient Greeks and then the Romans crowned the winners of the games with a laurel wreath. To this day, laurel is associated with glory and victory.

The bay laurel is used as a spice and as an infusion. In the cuisine, it is mainly used with legumes such as lentils and dishes such as stew, braised meats, hunting, fish and various sauces.

As a decoction it helps fight insomnia and indigestion.
