“Horiatiki” (country salad) is the famous Greek salad. Depending on the region, it is possible to find different variations. For example, with or without capers.
Ingredients
- 4 tomatoes
- 1 cucumber
- 1 red onion
- 1 green pepper
- 200 g feta
- 50 g Kalamata olives
- olive oil
- salt
- oregan
- vinegar (facultatif)
Making
Wash the vegetables. Cut the tomatoes in slices and put them in a bowl.
Cut the cucumber into dice, and onion and pepper in slices. In Greece, vegetables for Greek salad are not so finely cut 😉
Add the olives (Kalamata’s preferably) and put the olive oil at your convenience (some put a little bit, others sprinkle generously, it’s up to you ! )
Add the feta cheese in one piece. Add a little olive oil to the feta cheese.
Put salt, vinegar and some oregano (not much because it becomes bitter).
Serve chilled with a piece of champagne bread (per person). When serving, break the feta and mix with the rest of the ingredients
